The Greater Manchester Police Band has several different ensembles and can provide a huge range of musical entertainment for your event.
We can perform whole or part concerts and we're happy to work with other entertainers. We often perform with other bands, choirs and variety acts such as magicians!
Our largest ensemble, the concert band, or wind orchestra, comprises 30-40 musicians and our conductor. We are usually hired to play a full or half concert in a wide range of venues. Historically the band is military-based and we can offer a large range of military-style music from marches to classical arrangements. However, our repertoire also includes a huge array of film music, music from musicals, pop music and much more.
We can accommodate themed events and can work with you to provide a set-list beforehand if required.
The Big Band is our most popular ensemble and features a rhythm section, saxes, trumpets and trombones, plus several male and female vocalists and backing vocals. We can perform traditional big band jazz and swing or disco and pop music, or a combination of styles.
Often hired for dancing as well as shows, weddings and parties, the big band provides a real wow-factor to any event.
Bringing fun to any event, the Dixie Band is a group of 5-6 musicians, including a fabulous sousaphone. We play traditional, foot-tapping, dixie-style tunes that go down well at outdoor events, at schools or concerts with other musicians.
Playing a range of jazz classics from cool ballads to up-tempo numbers, the Jazz Ensemble is a versatile group that comprises of drums, bass, keys and two or three horn players. Perfect for dinner and drinks, concerts and more. The band can perform instrumentals only, or vocals can be added easily.
The sax quartet is often used for entertainment at functions where a smaller, quieter group is more suitable. We frequently play during drinks receptions and dinners, garden parties and fetes. We play a varied repertoire of popular music in a quartet style.
Adding a sense of grandeur to any occasion, our fanfare team are available for weddings and formal occasions, and perform a range of traditional fanfare arrangements.
Things to consider:
- Date of event
- What kind of music you'd like
- Size of your venue
- Travel times from our base in Manchester
- Facilities for the band - changing, parking, refreshments
We ask that you'd give us as much notice as possible, as we often get booked at least six months in advance - even 12 months for the popular periods such as Christmas. As we are predominantly volunteers, we need as much notice as possible to arrange musician availability. Please contact our band manager sooner rather than later to discuss your event.
Although we usually perform in the Greater Manchester area, and throughout the North West, we are happy to travel beyond…sometimes even to Yorkshire! If your event is further afield please do contact us to see if we can perform for you.
